What is Early Life Nutrition, and why is it important? Early Life Nutrition is the period of time from pre-conception through to toddlerhood, also known as the ‘first 1,000 days’. A growing body of evidence shows that the first one thousand days of a baby’s life provides a critical window of opportunity where a healthy environment, in particular, diet and lifestyle can positively influence lifelong health. Research has identified vulnerable time periods both prior to conception and during pregnancy where exposure to environmental factors can trigger adaptations in the growing fetus. (3) While these effects may be adaptive in the short term, they may also be associated with adverse outcomes in childhood and later life, including a greater risk of obesity, type 2 diabetes, heart disease and allergy. Therefore, identifying vulnerable periods in fetal development provides an important opportunity for parents, and health professionals to intervene and optimize future health outcomes. (Early Life Nutrition Alliance) We will tailor the program to each individual participant. This is important stuff, sometimes you get only one chance to get it right.

Let’s talk about using “Mama Mantras”. 🌈💖 ARE YOU AN AFFIRMATION-LOVER OR ARE YOU A SKEPTIC? These labels may sound too simple to be effective, but engaging in and working through your mindset will make a huge difference in your self-love and outlook. Skeptics tend to be negative, questioning, not trusting. These mindsets will make you unhappy with yourself and others. Affirmations, on the other hand, can be surprisingly helpful. Affirmations are like little love notes to yourself, sprinkled with positivity and empowerment. They have the power to transform your mindset and boost your confidence. They are part of your “secret sauce” to help make your life happy and fulfilling. “An affirmation opens the door. It’s the beginning point on the path to change.” – Louise Hay As moms, we wear so many hats and juggle countless responsibilities every day. It’s easy to get lost in the chaos and forget to take care of ourselves. But guess what? You are AMAZING, and it’s time to remind yourself of that every single day! Your affirmations––a.k.a. Mama Mantras––can be sentences or phrases you use to describe how you want to be or how you want your circumstances to be, all in a way that affirms that it is true or will become true. HERE ARE SOME AFFIRMATIONS TO GET YOU STARTED. (Feel free to change them and make them your own! ) 🌸I am doing the best I can, and that is always enough. 🌸I am worthy of love, respect, and happiness. 🌸I am strong, capable, and resilient. 🌸I embrace imperfection and celebrate progress. 🌸I am deserving of self-care and prioritizing my needs. 🌸When there is chaos around me, I am calm. 🌸I fully embrace today. 🌸I am leaving a legacy of love. 🌸I will do what I can, no one expects perfection. 🌸It’s okay to ask for help. 🌸My home is a safe place. 🌸I am capable of amazing things. HOW TO USE THEM Repeat your affirmations every day and watch how they work their magic in your life. 💫 Try them in front of a mirror, or write them in a journal or on sticky notes. Say them out loud, or say them in your head. Repeat them when you wake up and also right before sleep. Repetition is key! When I commit to doing affirmations every day, I feel they upgrade my thinking––and my life. Do you do affirmations? Which ones resonate best with you? Processed foods that have been stripped of their fiber–think white rice, white flour, chips, most breads, fast foods and the vast majority of products that come in boxes and bags–are digested and absorbed quickly by the stomach and small intestine. They seldom even make the full journey down through the gut to the colon. A 2023 study found that when we eat a fiber rich diet of whole foods, our microbiome absorbs more than 100 Calories a day, and in some cases as much as 400 Calories–Calories that quite literally passed your lips but never made it to your hips. When we eat processed foods (a misnomer, ed)–which make up a whopping 60% of Calories in the American diet–more of those Calories go to us, not our microbiome. And when we don’t properly feed our microbiome they can’t be as effective at protecting our health…(AARP.org. May 2024.)
AND THEN IT IS WINTER Not me yet… You know. . . time has a way of moving quickly and catching you unaware of the passing years. It seems just yesterday that I was young, just married and embarking on my new life with my mate. Yet in a way, it seems like eons ago, and I wonder where all the years went. I know that I lived them all. I have glimpses of how it was back then and of all my hopes and dreams. But, here it is… the winter of my life and it catches me by surprise…How did I get here so fast? Where did the years go and where did my youth go? I remember well seeing older people through the years and thinking that those older people were years away from me and that winter was so far off that I could not fathom it or imagine fully what it would be like. But, here it is…my friends are retired and getting grey…they move slower and I see an older person now. Some are in better and some worse shape than me…but, I see the great change…Not like the ones that I remember who were young and vibrant…but, like me, their age is beginning to show and we are now those older folks that we used to see and never thought we’d be. Each day now, I find that just getting a shower is a real target for the day! And taking a nap is not a treat anymore… it’s mandatory! Cause if I don’t on my own free will… I just fall asleep where I sit! And so…now I enter into this new season of my life unprepared for all the aches and pains and the loss of strength and ability to go and do things that I wish I had done but never did!! But, at least I know, that though the winter has come, and I’m not sure how long it will last…this I know, that when it’s over on this earth…it’s over. A new adventure will begin! Yes, I have regrets. There are things I wish I hadn’t done…things I should have done, but indeed, there are many things I’m happy to have done. It’s all in a lifetime. So, if you’re not in your winter yet…let me remind you, that it will be here faster than you think. So, what ever you would like to accomplish in your life please do it quickly! Don’t put things off too long!! Life goes by quickly. So, do what you can today, as you can never be sure whether this is your winter or not! You have no promise that you will see all the seasons of your life…so, live for today and say all the things that you want your loved ones to remember…and hope that they appreciate and love you for all the things that you have done for them in all the years past!! “Life” is a gift to you. The way you live your life is your gift to those who come after. Make it a fantastic one. LIVE IT WELL! ENJOY TODAY! DO SOMETHING FUN! BE HAPPY ! HAVE A GREAT DAY Remember “It is health that is real wealth and not pieces of gold and silver. LIVE HAPPY IN 2024!
