Nutritional supplements, To Use or Not to Use?

Nutritional Supplements. protein drinks and smoothies, are they for you? Do you eat ten servings of fruits and vegetables every day? Any day? How about fast foods, convenience foods, no fresh foods, organic or not, highly processed, high salt, high sugar, high carbohydrate, especially at breakfast? Do you eat breakfast, calmly, at a table in your house, a savory breakfast with at least 30% of the day’s protein requirement. Point is that you are a candidate for a smart supplementation program. There are several questions that are good to ask before investing in any supplements–ask the manufacturer how they test for safety and efficacy. (there should be many, sometimes hundreds). Ask for their peer reviewed literature about their finished product, published in reputable science journals. Library research on ingredients is not acceptable, nor are white papers that are imitating journal papers. There are other valid questions to complete your due diligence before you invest, These are perfectly framed by Dr. Steve Chaney in his book “Slaying the Supplement Myths”. Quality, safety and efficacy is the order of the day. When you ask the questions you will begin to see the gaps, Grand Canyon like, they are.
