Heart Health and Inflammation

Dr. Google, since it is heart health month, with several names, that is on my mind. Perhaps the negatives about it will awaken some to take better self care as well as reach out to their community to learn CPR together, to work on life style improvements, improve health so medications may be reduced, and more. At least 2500 Americans die every day of cardiovascular disease (CVD). These are heart disease, stroke, high blood pressure, heart failure, MI, and others. That is one death every 36 seconds. Someone in the U.S. has a stroke every 40 seconds, and died of stroke every 3 minutes 35 seconds.
CVD costs are projected to increase to $749 billion in 2035. You know, we all help pay for that, financially and emotionally.
For all of us, at any age, getting serious about the obesity epidemic, like yesterday, and our immune capability right now, would be an incredibly smart thing to do. Why wait any longer, or weight any longer?
What is the relationship between BMI (Body Mass Index) and the incidence of heart failure? Obese people double their risk of heart disease compared with subjects within the appropriate range. There is increased incidence of elevated cholesterol, atherosclerosis, metabolic syndrome, high blood pressure (HTN), diabetes in people with elevated BMI. HTN is three times more common in the obese vs. normal weight person. It is ALL inflammation!!!
We have remedies for that as well as ways to avoid it/them. It’s not like “well I’ll just have my salad tomorrow” Stuff. Here is your homework: Get a copy of A Silent Fire, by Shilpa Ravella, a hiliter and a pen. Read it and hilite it and write in it, and pass it on to someone who needs it also. You can do that in a week, your life is waiting. A funeral home suggests that we “Exercise, Eat Healthy. Live Well. We Can Wait.” Hmm. They know we are coming sooner or later, though. Your choice. Shilpa may be a challenge for some to read as there are a few words that may not be familiar. It is not technical or medical jargon. As I have to do frequently, reach for your phone and find the definition for the word. It will be just right, no stress. It’s 2 or 3 clicks. So, give me a book report and talk to me… I don’t like funerals or memorials…Bruce
