Low level, “hidden” inflammation is linked to other diseases of modernity like obesity, diabetes, cancer, and autoimmune diseases. It even plays a role in aging, neurodegenerative diseases like Alzheimer’s and psychiatric illnesses. Inflammation is far more pervasive then I had ever imagined… “macrophages, which figure prominently in hidden inflammation, hang out in all kinds of places: the blood vessels traveling to the heart, body fat, the pancreas, cancer tissue and the brain. Inflammation-one of the oldest diseases known to man-is perhaps a common thread running through nearly all disease.” Author Dr. Shilpa Ravella in A Silent Fire, the story of inflammation, diet & disease, pages 49-50. w.w. Norton & Co. NY, 2022. This is an exciting read, especially if you have an interest in how things work, with some history. I will post some more as I read through. You may get some insight into how the “thing” in the last three years works in our bodies. This can only be helpful as it will be around for a long while and we have some fixing to do. This has nothing to do with a position on this side or that. The point is that you may understand how the last three years of struggle is not the first time these phenomenon have been experienced or thought about. That is why the history is important. We just don’t read and heed the memos very well or often. We argue and dismiss so readily things that we don’t know about or understand, instead of embracing an idea as a possibility and see how it play out. We don’t have to accept it. like it, just put it in the memory bank for later, not 50, 100 or centuries later examples of which are described. We have had some brilliant thinkers in our past. Socrates, Hippocrates, Galileo may come to mind. The Greek athletes who figured out that gluten was negatively affecting their performance, and much more. The book is a gem. May I suggest reading it and paying it forward, or buy 2 copies and give one away.
