Adequate supplements in pregnancy

A recently published study estimated the usual intake of vitamin A, D, folate, calcium, iron, and omega 3 EPA/DHA. A target for each was established. Out of 20,547 dietary supplements (including 421 prenatal products, 69 products (33prenatal) contained all 6 nutrients; 7 products (2 prenatal) contained target doses for 5 nutrients. Only one product (not a prenatal) contained target doses for all 6 nutrients. Inadequate and/or excessive intake of nutrients during pregnancy is associated with adverse maternal and offspring health outcomes. More on this tomorrow. The price quoted for the
only product that met the criteria was Shaklee Life Strip, our premier all in one daily strip combination of nutrients. The price quoted was full retail. We usually sell at member or Ambassador price tiers at considerable discount. There are other discounts available, as well as a bonus structure for those who share the wellness benefits we offer. There are many more important nutrients than the 6 targeted in the study. Life Strip covers them as well. Shaklee Legal Department has allowed us, because of our product research and published studies to say that “Shaklee is the most clinically proven Wellness Company in the World”. This is why, as a practitioner, I use and recommend their products–for over 40 years now, and I am only 29. The quoted study is: Sauder KA, et al. Selecting a dietary supplement with appropriate dosing for 6 key nutrients in pregnancy. AJCN, vol 117, issue 4, p 643-836. The actual article is on pgs. 823-829. There are several other very interesting articles in this journal. Page 2 tomorrow…
